Overview

Katelyn Fisher represents insurance companies, HMOs and other industry stakeholders on insurance matters, focusing on health care market reform, insurance regulatory compliance, insolvency matters and holding company transactions.

Health and Dental Plans 

Katelyn helps health insurance companies, HMOs and other health and dental plans understand market reforms under the Affordable Care Act. She assists clients in drafting major medical and standalone dental products to be offered inside and outside of the Federally Facilitated Marketplaces in a number of states. In addition, Katelyn advises clients on their annual state and federal rate and form filings through the System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing (SERFF) and the Health Insurance Oversight System (HIOS).

Compliance 

Katelyn helps clients understand and comply with applicable federal and state insurance statutes and regulations, including those related to federal essential health benefits (EHBs), state benefit mandates, health and dental product filing requirements, holding company act transactions, and solvency protections. Her wide-ranging practice includes counseling clients on reporting obligations under Section 111 of the Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Extension Act.

Transactions

Katelyn works on transactions including assumption reinsurance and asset purchase agreements, management and administrative services agreements and holding company act transactions.

Past Experience

Before joining Faegre Drinker, Katelyn worked as a legal intern for Wishard Health Services (now Eskenazi Hospital) in Indianapolis and summer session legislative intern with Indiana Senator Evan Bayh in Washington, D.C. She also served as a volunteer English teacher for Christel House Mexico in Mexico City.
