Overview
Alexa Miller is a trusted advisor who regularly counsels employers on planning workplace restructurings, complying with federal and state drug testing requirements and cannabis laws, structuring diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) goals, conducting pay equity audits, and navigating federal and state leave entitlements. Alexa also provides strategic advice on crisis management issues, employee discipline, and conducts sensitive internal investigations. Alexa is best known for her pragmatic, business-focused approach at crafting creative strategies to solve client problems.
Alexa is also an avid defender helping clients to achieve successful litigation outcomes in a variety of employment-related disputes involving discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour compliance, and whistleblower claims in both federal and state courts, arbitrations, and before administrative agencies. Additionally, she conducts trainings and frequently lectures on various topics in employment law including preventing sexual harassment, managing accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), workplace cannabis issues and other hot topics in employment law.
Alexa is a contributor to LaborSphere, a firm blog which provides coverage and insights on breaking cases, recently enacted legislation and a broad range of employee benefits and labor issues. Alexa is a member of the labor and employment group’s HR Compliance, Training and Transactions team. She is also a member of the firm’s COVID-19 Task Force and COVID-19 Vaccine Team.
Previous Experience
Prior to joining the firm, Alexa was an associate at a national management-side employment law firm. After graduating from law school, she served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Warren E. Jones, justice of the Idaho Supreme Court. While in law school, Alexa participated in the Vaccine Injury Litigation Clinic where she represented individuals seeking compensation for vaccine-related injuries before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
