Amy E. Strati

Counsel

Overview

Amy Strati provides regulatory and strategic counsel to insurance industry clients, with a particular focus on health insurance matters. After spending 13 years with the Indiana Department of Insurance, she has extensive knowledge of insurance laws. 

In her practice, Amy:

  • Assists clients in the formation and licensing of insurance companies, HMOs, agents, brokers, third-party administrators and other entities regulated by state departments of insurance.
  • Counsels insurance industry clients on a variety of corporate and regulatory matters. 
  • Assists clients in developing health insurance product forms. 
  • Handles matters involving insurance holding companies and their subsidiaries and affiliates, and assists clients with satisfying regulatory requirements. 
  • Assists clients with enforcement matters before the Indiana Department of Insurance. 
  • Counsels clients on issues related to health insurance, including compliance with the Affordable Care Act, participation in the health insurance exchanges and Medicare Advantage products. 

Past Experience

Before joining the firm, Amy was Chief Counsel with the Indiana Department of Insurance. She advised the Commissioner on the demutualizations of Anthem and Indianapolis Life Insurance Co.; the mutual holding company reorganizations of American United Life Insurance Co. and Lafayette Life Insurance Co.; and the mutual company merger of Meridian Mutual Insurance Co. into State Auto Insurance Co. In 2004, Gov. Joseph E. Kernan appointed Amy as Acting Insurance Commissioner where she oversaw a state agency with 75 employees and an $8.2 million budget. She has served as a presenter on numerous occasions on the topics of insurance and medical malpractice.
