Strati Joins Baker & Daniels' Insurance & Financial Services Practice

Amy E. Strati has joined Baker & Daniels LLP as counsel, practicing with the firm's insurance and financial services group. She will concentrate on the area of insurance regulatory law.

Strati joins Baker & Daniels from the Indiana Department of Insurance where she served in a variety of capacities, most recently as Chief Counsel. She was appointed Acting Insurance Commissioner for the Department by Gov. Joe Kernan in 2004 and was tasked with overseeing and managing the agency staff of 75 employees and a budget of $8.2 million.

Strati has extensive knowledge of insurance laws, with a particular focus on medical malpractice laws. While serving as Chief Counsel for the Indiana Department of Insurance, she advised the Commissioner on the demutualizations of Anthem and Indianapolis Life Insurance Co.; the mutual holding company reorganizations of American United Life Insurance Co. and Lafayette Life Insurance Co.; and the mutual company merger of Meridian Mutual Insurance Co. into State Auto Insurance Co. Strati also has served as a presenter on numerous occasions on the topics of insurance and medical malpractice.
