Faegre Baker Daniels Wins UK Employment Team of the Year
Faegre Baker Daniels is pleased to announce that the firm's London employment group has been awarded The Lawyer's prestigious "UK Employment Team of the Year" award. The winning team was selected from hundreds of entries from across the UK and had been named to the shortlist with six other competing law firms in May. The Lawyer Awards celebrate excellence in the legal profession and winners were announced at a ceremony attended by over 1500 people at London's Grosvenor House Hotel earlier this week.
"We are extremely honored to receive this award, especially considering the talented competition we faced," commented Scott Wright, group leader of the Faegre Baker Daniels labor and employment group. "Our labor and employment team in London had an exceptional year, working diligently with many noteworthy clients, and to see that hard work and dedication pay off in this manner is quite remarkable."
In addition to the team's impressive stand alone client base and high profile corporate and advisory work, they were recognized for their recently won landmark restrictive covenant case in the High Court for employment client, Raymond James. Raymond James became a new client in 2009. After providing initial advice, the team supported Raymond James through two years of High Court litigation, culminating in a two month trial last year (the longest in 2011). The Judge comprehensively exonerated Raymond James and seven financial advisors (formerly of advisory firm, Edward Jones) of all allegations of breach of their restrictive covenants, misuse of confidential information and conspiracy. Furthermore, the Judge ordered the Claimant to pay our clients' costs in their entirety on an indemnity basis, the most punitive costs order that can be made.
The award-winning team is comprised of Alex Denny, Robert Campbell, Victoria Pengelly, Scott James, Catrin Jennett, Stephen Llewellyn and Anna Byford. The shortlisted law firms for this award were Allen & Overy, Bindmans, Leigh Day & Co, Mayer Brown, Russell Jones & Walker and Wragge & Co.
