In Memoriam: Longtime Partner and Friend, Tom Wood Passes Away

We regret to report that our longtime partner and friend, Tom Wood, died last night, October 21, 2013, after an eight-month fight with cancer.

Tom, who graduated from Amherst College in 1961 and the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1966, was a member of our Corporate and Securities Practice Group and served for many years as the Partner in Charge of our Berwyn office. He was a very able lawyer who won the trust and confidence of a wide variety of clients over his 42 years at Drinker. He was also active in the community, having served as the Chairman of the Easttown Township Zoning Hearing Board and as a trustee of the Baldwin School.

Tom was well-liked by everyone he worked with. Skillful as he was as a lawyer, he was also the best of men. Invariably thoughtful and wise, he managed to combine a sense of humor with an instinctive kindness in dealing with his colleagues (and, indeed, with everybody else). He was a good partner in every sense of the term. We were all fortunate to have him and are very sorry to hear that he is gone.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Main Line Unitarian Church in Devon, PA. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be sent to The Maine Maritime Museum or The Apprenticeshop.
