Abigail Butler to Lead Fort Wayne Office of Faegre Baker Daniels

Abigail Butler, a partner in the product liability practice at Faegre Baker Daniels LLP, has been named leader of the firm's Fort Wayne office, effective December 1, 2013.
As office leader, Butler will oversee office-specific operations work, guide FaegreBD's local community initiatives and represent the firm in the community. FaegreBD's Fort Wayne location comprises 34 attorneys and 39 paralegals and operational staff.
Butler concentrates her law practice on product liability and intellectual property litigation. She has litigated both patent and product liability matters involving a wide variety of medical device and consumer products in state and federal courts across the country. Butler is licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has represented businesses in preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
"I'm excited to take on this new role at Faegre Baker Daniels and help guide our growth and contributions to the Fort Wayne community," Butler said. "Particularly as a woman and a mother of young children, I'm proud that our firm supports opportunities for women to achieve at the highest levels while balancing work and family commitments."
Butler is an advocate for the advancement of women in business and law. She previously chaired the Allen County Bar Association's Women Lawyers Section. In May 2004, Butler appeared on the cover of Working Mother Magazine and was featured in an article about balancing her career by making her family a priority.
In 2010, Butler was named to Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly's 40 Under 40 class. She is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association's Intellectual Property Committee, the American Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Butler is a recipient of the GOLD (Graduate of the Last Decade) Award from Hillsdale College, her undergraduate alma mater.
Butler earned her law degree from Michigan State University's Detroit College of Law magna cum laude in 2000. She received her bachelor's degree from Hillsdale College in 1997.
