Colorado Lawyers Committee Names Faegre Baker Daniels Law Firm of the Year
The Colorado Lawyers Committee (CLC) named Faegre Baker Daniels LLP as one of two Law Firms of the Year on May 21, 2013.
The award recognizes the firm's outstanding leadership and exceptional contributions to the needs of children and the underprivileged in Colorado.
FaegreBD lawyers, paralegals and staff volunteered on 10 CLC projects in 2012, including:
- Partner Bill Callison's service on the Education Task Force, the CLC Board of Directors and Executive Committee
- Partner Dave Stark's leadership as co-chair of the Children's Task Force, which challenged Colorado's criteria for reducing and eliminating Medicaid benefits for children with autism. Several other FaegreBD attorneys worked on this team.
- Partner Trip DeMuth's leadership as co-chair of the Sixth Amendment Task Force, which is challenging the constitutionality of a Colorado statute requiring individuals to meet with a prosecutor prior to being appointed an attorney
- Combined efforts from FaegreBD volunteers on projects such as Lobato v. State of Colorado, a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the state's public school financing; Project Homeless Connect; and transactional assistance for numerous nonprofit organizations
Upon receiving the award on behalf of the firm, Stark said, "We at Faegre Baker Daniels have a culture of pro bono service and professionalism, and thank the Colorado Lawyers Committee for the opportunity to promote and expand that culture."
The Colorado Lawyers Committee is a nonprofit, nonpartisan consortium of 59 Colorado law firms dedicated to creating and increasing opportunities for children, the poor and other disadvantaged communities through high-impact pro bono work. The lawyers who donate their time through the Lawyers Committee focus primarily on major public policy issues and systemic changes rather than representation of individuals.
