Faegre Baker Daniels Named Among Top Firms Nationally for Women Lawyers
Press Release
Faegre Baker Daniels LLP has been listed as one of the 50 Best Law Firms for Women in 2013 by Working Mother Media and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC.
Firms are recognized based on their workforce and leadership representation of women, time off and leave policies, child care support, schedule flexibility, compensation and advancement of women, and development and retention of women. Winning firms were highlighted in a special section of Working Mother magazine's August/September 2013 issue.
"We appreciate this recognition and are proud that our policies and practices are positively impacting our women lawyers" said Kathy Noecker, a member of FaegreBD's executive committee. "Many women, including partners, use reduced hour and flex-time arrangements, backup childcare options and generous maternity leave that the firm makes available. We have found that truly supporting flexibility empowers parents to thrive at home and in the workplace simultaneously and enhances long-term retention and advancement within the firm."
Working Mother magazine noted that FaegreBD's Women's Forum for Achievement "boasts a wide range of useful programs for lawyers, with educational sessions, discussion groups and workshops that cover success strategies, sponsorship, mentoring, leadership development and more." The forum focuses strategically on leadership and business development of the firm's women talent.
FaegreBD was also recognized for its lawyer population, which is 37 percent women, and its exceptional advancement of women into leadership positions. One-third of management board members, one-fourth of the executive committee members and nearly one-third of practice group leaders are women, along with 60 percent of operational executives.
"It is critical that firms simultaneously support women's path to power, as well as the ability of all lawyers to pursue multiple career models of success," noted Deborah Epstein Henry, president of Flex-Time Lawyers, in Working Mother.
Working Mother Media and Flex-Time Lawyers founded the 50 Best Law Firms for Women initiative in 2007 to celebrate the firms that are most successful in retaining and advancing women in the male-driven legal field.
Working Mother Media, a division of Bonnier Corporation, publishes Working Mother magazine, which reaches more than 2 million readers and is the only national magazine for career-committed mothers. Flex-Time Lawyers LLC is an international consulting firm providing advisory, training and speaking services to employers and professionals on work-life balance, retaining and promoting women, and new models of legal practices.
