Faegre Baker Daniels Recognized for Supporting Diversity & Inclusion in Des Moines

The Greater Des Moines Partnership presented Faegre Baker Daniels with its Inclusion Award in the small company category at the organization’s Annual Dinner on January 27.

The award honors member companies who have championed diversity and inclusion at their businesses and in their community. The selection process included a written application and an onsite visit by members of the Partnership’s Inclusion Council.

Highlights of FaegreBD’s application included diverse hiring practices, support of pipeline programs and other organizations that advance diversity, a firmwide Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Group and professional diversity staff, an inclusive approach to selection of firm leaders, firmwide educational diversity events, and robust pro bono and community service programs.

In Des Moines, 33 percent of FaegreBD’s lawyers are women. The Des Moines office sponsors the Matthew Shepard Foundation to provide college scholarships to LGBT youth, hosts workshops for diverse pre-law students through the Philip G. Hubbard Iowa Law School Preparation Program, and sponsors the Des Moines Latino Heritage Festival, CelebrAsian and I’ll Make Me a World in Iowa.

The Greater Des Moines Partnership is the economic and community development organization serving Central Iowa, working to grow opportunity, create jobs, and promote the best place to build a business, a career and a future.
