Miko Hernandez Selected by Faegre Baker Daniels as 2015 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow

Faegre Baker Daniels has selected Miko Hernandez to join the 2015 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) class of Fellows. She will participate in a landmark program to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.

According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey Jr, the LCLD Fellows Program offers participants, “an extraordinarily rich year of relationship-building, virtual and in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership.”

Hernandez is a partner in the finance and restructuring group and advises on commercial financing transactions, including syndicated loan transactions, asset-based loans and cross-border financings, with a particular emphasis in matters involving Native American tribes. She has counseled on numerous multimillion-dollar transactions to finance tribal gaming operations, agribusiness companies and other economic activities.

Hernandez serves on the board of directors of the Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center, where she has provided regular pro bono legal support. She is active in FaegreBD’s LGBT Resource Group, is a member of the Minnesota Lavender Bar Association and is a special member of the Minnesota American Indian Bar Association. In 2013, Hernandez was named to the National LGBT Bar Association’s Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40.

“We quickly recognized Miko as an attorney with incredible career and leadership potential,” said FaegreBD Managing Partner Andrew Humphrey. “In addition to her impressive accomplishments, Miko is a passionate and caring individual, respected by all who know her.”

Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 220 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a truly diverse legal profession. The LCLD Fellows Program, which has trained more than 600 mid-career attorneys since 2011, is one of LCLD’s most important initiatives.
