Design-Build Institute of America Appoints Patrick Miller to Vice Chair Legislative & Legal Committee

The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) recently appointed Patrick Miller, partner in Faegre Baker Daniels’ construction practice, to serve as vice-chair of the organization’s Legislative and Legal Committee from 2016-18. DBIA promotes and teaches best practices in design-build projects, construction projects in which the designer and builder work together as one entity under a single contract.

In his new role, Miller will help DBIA assess and respond to the legal developments that impact stakeholders in the design-build marketplace. The committee oversees updates to DBIA’s form contracts, develops standards for business proposals for design-build services, and assists DBIA with public-private partnership efforts—an area to which Miller brings considerable experience.

DBIA cited both prior contributions to the Institute and excellence within one’s professional field as key considerations in selecting committee leaders. Miller has served on the organization’s National Legal Committee for several years and is one of few lawyers in the nation approved as an instructor for DBIA’s Contracts and Risk course. He also serves as a Board Member for DBIA’s Great Lakes Region.
