Zimmer Biomet Team Wins Second Bellwether Trial Defending NexGen Flex Knee Implants
Faegre Baker Daniels represented Zimmer Biomet Holdings, Inc. in securing its second multidistrict litigation victory in defense of the company’s NexGen Flex knee product.
The U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Illinois ruled that plaintiffs in Joas v. Zimmer lacked a reliable scientific basis for their claims against the NexGen Flex knee. Summary judgment in Joas, in conjunction with the jury’s verdict in favor of Zimmer in the first bellwether trial in October 2015, is consistent with the overwhelming clinical success of the NexGen Flex family of products. Zimmer will continue to defend the NexGen Flex legacy of nearly 18 years of successfully treating millions of patients worldwide.
FaegreBD attorneys Andrea Pierson, Joe Price and Peter Meyer led the litigation team, which included partners and associates from Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Ind., Denver, and Minneapolis.
This victory follows another win in Zimmer’s first MDL in defense of the NexGen Flex knee implants in November 2015.
