Colin Harris and John Marcil Named to Denver Business Journal's ‘Who's Who in Energy'

Faegre Baker Daniels partners Colin Harris and John Marcil have been named to Denver Business Journal’s 2016 “Who’s Who in Energy” list, which profiles the metro Denver area’s key players in the energy industry.

The Denver Business Journal selected honorees, in part, because their “position, knowledge and expertise helps guide Colorado’s multibillion-dollar energy sector.”

Harris represents upstream, pipeline, refining, power and other energy companies in courtroom, regulatory, and boardroom settings. Clients trust Harris with high-value and business sensitive matters. For example, he is defending two pipeline operators in separate nationally-publicized pipeline ruptures impacting waterways. Harris is actively engaged on behalf of several companies seeking to minimize exposure to high-profile government enforcement and rule-making initiatives, including two major producers in the Bakken shale play subject to the national energy extraction air quality enforcement initiative. Harris represents pipelines in Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) hearings and has represented clients in two of only five final orders ever appealed to the federal courts of appeal and state oil and gas commission rules, one of which is pending. Harris is proud of his years as an "oil patch" lawyer.

Marcil, leader of the firm’s power and utilities practice, represents utilities, IPPs and other energy companies in project development, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, capital markets and securities transactions, loan transactions and project financings, joint ventures and general corporate matters.

Harris and Marcil were recognized at a reception in Denver on Dec. 6, 2016.
