Drinker Biddle Supports Philadelphia Bar Association Expungement Clinic

A team of volunteer attorneys from Philadelphia, recruited by the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and assisted by Philadelphia partner Nolan Tully, conducted a successful criminal record expungement and sealing clinic at the Marian Anderson Recreation Center on February 3.

Approximately 30 volunteer lawyers assisted more than 60 local residents with prior arrests, old misdemeanor convictions, or both. The pro bono clinic offered participants the opportunity to begin the process of having criminal records sealed, redacted or expunged, which is a significant step in continuing or obtaining employment, or moving ahead in one’s current profession.

The event also included a Re-Entry and Career Readiness Workshop presented by the National Workforce Opportunity Network. Drinker Biddle provided invaluable assistance for the event, including volunteer attorneys and equipment. The event received significant support from local elected officials, including Pennsylvania State Rep Jordan Harris and City Councilman Kenyatta Johnson, who were in attendance.
