The Indiana Lawyer Honors Ellen Boshkoff, Patrick Reilly and Jessica Van Dalen with ‘Leadership in Law' Recognitions

The Indiana Lawyer has named Faegre Baker Daniels partners Ellen Boshkoff, Patrick Reilly and Jessica Van Dalen winners of the 2018 “Leadership in Law” awards for their outstanding legal work and community contributions.

Boshkoff was named a Distinguished Barrister—an honor for lawyers who have practiced a minimum of 20 years. Indianapolis-based partners Reilly and Van Dalen received the Up and Coming Lawyer designation, intended for outstanding attorneys who have been practicing for 10 years or less.

Boshkoff, who co-leads FaegreBD’s employment litigation practice, was recognized by Indiana Lawyer as a powerhouse litigator, leader in the firm’s employment practice, and respected mentor and community servant. Boshkoff represents employers (both public and private) and has successfully defended employment cases in federal and state courts across the country. In Indiana Lawyer’s profile, she shared important advice that she follows for trial success, explaining that it is important to fully prepare and treat a trial like a theater production by compiling the case in the most compelling, understanding and truthful way possible. She said, “This requires a lot of advance planning and preparation so that when you are in front of a jury, the case unfolds seamlessly and appears effortless and natural.”

Reilly, a partner in the firm’s product liability practice, was recognized in a profile by Indiana Lawyer for his work in sports, including his representation of the National Football League and the National Hockey League. He was also commended as a “team player on product liability matters and in cutting edge practice areas such as drone laws.” In addition, the publication noted Reilly’s efforts to promote diversity in the legal profession and community.

Van Dalen, a partner in FaegreBD’s intellectual property practice, was hailed for her leadership as a patent attorney in a predominantly male-dominated practice area. In a profile of Van Dalen, Indiana Lawyer also noted that she is “credited with building important connections between Purdue University, where she earned a degree in material science and engineering, and IU Maurer.” Her service to the community and involvement in several pro bono initiatives was also recognized.

Winners were honored in a special supplement to Indiana Lawyer on May 2 and at a celebratory reception on May 8.
