Law360 Names FaegreBD One of the Best Law Firms for Women in 2018 Glass Ceiling Report

Faegre Baker Daniels has been ranked as the eighth best U.S. law firm for women in Law360’s 2018 Glass Ceiling Report. The firm was also ranked second on the publication’s list of 2018 “Ceiling Smashers” for the second consecutive year.

For the 2018 Glass Ceiling Report, Law360 surveyed more than 300 U.S. firms on their overall and female headcount numbers as of Dec. 31, 2017. The firms with the highest number of female attorneys were ranked using a formula that equally weighs the percentage of non-partners and percentage of total partners who are women. Law360 awarded “Ceiling Smashers” to those firms who have the largest percentage of female equity partners.

FaegreBD is committed to meeting national diversity and inclusion benchmarking standards, including those aimed at advancing women in the legal profession. In 2017, the firm was named one of the Best Law Firms for Women by Working Mother magazine and was selected as one of 44 U.S. law firms to receive Gold Standard Certification by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF).

The firm also has adopted innovative programs dedicated to the retention and advancement of women and diverse professionals, including the Mansfield Rule, an outgrowth from Diversity Lab’s 2016 Women in Law Hackathon that FaegreBD’s vice chair and chief operating partner Gina Kastel participated in. The Mansfield Rule is inspired by the NFL’s Rooney Rule and ensures consideration pools for select leadership and governance roles are represented by women lawyers and lawyers of color.

In addition, FaegreBD has implemented “On Track for Partnership”— a team-driven and technology-supported sponsorship initiative designed to accelerate professional growth, promote career advancement, and unlock leadership opportunities for women lawyers and lawyers of color. Further, the firm’s internal Women's Forum for Achievement   engages all lawyers at the firm and provides a platform for women to develop their careers, practices and networks, and ensures the firm is a place where women can achieve long-term success.
