Corporate Restructuring Group Receives 2018 Turnaround Atlas Award for Pharma & Medical Restructuring Deal of the Year

Drinker Biddle’s Corporate Restructuring Group assisted with a restructuring and acquisition deal that was recently awarded the Global M&A Network’s 2018 Turnaround Atlas Award for the Pharma & Medical Restructuring Deal of the Year. The awards celebrate the best value-creating restructuring transactions from the insolvency, distressed mergers & acquisitions, and turnaround communities.

Partner Steven K. Kortanek and associate Patrick Jackson represented Halt Medical, Inc. in its restructuring of more than $150 million in debt and acquisition by Murray Enterprise and s3 Ventures. The successful restructuring led to the formation of Acessa Health, a privately held medical device company that produces instrumentation for the Acessa™ procedure, which provides minimally invasive, outpatient treatment for symptomatic fibroids of all types and sizes and in all locations within the uterine wall. Steven and Patrick accepted the award on behalf of the firm at a gala ceremony held at the Metropolitan Club of New York.

Drinker Biddle’s team also worked with Bob Eisenbach at Cooley LLP as corporate counsel and Mike Balistreri and colleagues at Canaccord Genuity as investment banker.

“We are extremely grateful for the recognition given to our efforts in Halt by the Global M&A Network,” said Steven. “This Chapter 11 restructuring showcased our creative and efficient approach to debtor representations.”
