Maria Lewis and Tony Pozos Honored for Professional Excellence

Chief diversity officer and counsel, Maria L. H. Lewis, and partner Tony Pozos were selected as winners by The Legal Intelligencer as part of its 2019 Professional Excellence Awards in the “Best Mentors” and “Lawyers on the Fast Track” categories, respectively. Finalists are chosen based on their exemplary work and significant achievements within the Pennsylvania legal community.

One of only six lawyers statewide recognized as a Best Mentor, Maria is the firm’s Chief Diversity Officer. She plays an integral role developing and implementing Drinker Biddle’s policies and procedures to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace. She previously served as the Chair of the Philadelphia Regional Hiring Committee and continues to serve on the Hiring Committee to promote diverse hiring and retention. Maria is also the first firm-wide internal Career Counselor to all non-partner attorneys. In this role, she serves as a confidential resource to attorneys in navigating career decisions and other professional workplace matters.

Tony, one of 25 Lawyers on the Fast Track statewide, represents clients in criminal litigation, internal investigations, government investigations, and related civil proceedings, with a particular emphasis on the health care industry, foreign corruption, public corruption, and cross-border disputes. He is an experienced trial lawyer and, before joining Drinker Biddle, was a federal prosecutor with the Criminal Fraud Section of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he worked with the Corporate Strike Force and the Medicare Fraud Strike Force.
