Faegre Drinker Selects Yasmin Best, Nicolas Guzman, Sumaya Noush and David Yoshimura for 2020 LCLD Fellowship and Pathfinder Programs

Faegre Drinker is pleased to announce that Yasmin Best and Nicolas Guzman have been selected for the Leadership Counsel on Legal Diversity’s (LCLD) 2020 Fellows Program, and Sumaya Noush and David Yoshimura as members of the organization’s 2020 Pathfinders Program.

The LCLD Fellows Program was created to identify high-potential attorneys from diverse backgrounds, train and advance them as the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. The program has trained more than 1,600 mid-career attorneys since 2011 and is one of LCLD’s most important initiatives.

Both legacy Faegre and legacy Drinker had rich histories of involvement with the organization and the combined firm remains committed to the continued success and mission of LCLD.

Representing legacy Faegre, Best litigates high-stakes white collar and commercial matters and advises clients during government and internal investigations. After nearly a decade as Assistant U.S. Attorney, she brings a prosecutor’s perspective to defend individuals and institutions in financial and securities litigation and criminal and regulatory inquiries. She has tried 10 jury trials and briefed and argued seven cases in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Representing legacy Drinker, Guzman counsels clients in all aspects of international trade laws and regulations. He has extensive experience in import, trade compliance and international customs issues, including maquiladora manufacturing operations in Mexico. He also assists clients with import tariff classification, valuation, country of origin determination and marking issues, and eligibility determinations under free trade agreements and duty preference programs.

LCLD’s Pathfinder Program was designed to train early-career attorneys in critical career development strategies including leadership and the building of professional networks.

Representing legacy Drinker, Noush’s practice focuses on corporate health care transactional work and regulatory matters. She counsels health care providers across the continuum of care, including hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers and post-acute providers. Prior to practicing law, Noush was a visiting scholar at The Hastings Center in New York—the world’s leading bioethics research institute—and an instructor and research fellow at Yale University’s Sherwin B. Nuland Summer Institute in Bioethics.

Representing legacy Faegre, Yoshimura guides clients through a variety of complex commercial litigations and dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation. Prior to joining Faegre Drinker he was a judicial clerk to the Hon. Judge Robert W. Pratt of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa, where he assisted with trial work and with appellate matters in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He previously served as a staff attorney at the Iowa Supreme Court.
