The Indiana University Maurer School of Law Honors Libby Baney With 2021 Distinguished Service Award

Government and regulatory affairs partner Libby Baney has been selected to receive a 2021 “Distinguished Service Award” from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, her alma mater. She was recognized for her long-time commitment to and support of the school as an active volunteer, as well as her more than a dozen years of tremendous service on the alumni board, including in leadership roles.

Baney serves as a dynamic public policy advocate, attorney, strategist and facilitator. Clients hire her to delve deep into the issues, devise a strategy and execute on many fronts. She works primarily on policies and issues confronting health and technology stakeholders but also touches on the insurance industry. Baney has built trusted relationships with U.S. and international government agencies, law enforcement, and policymakers on both sides of the aisle.

The Distinguished Service Award was established in 1997 to recognize accomplished graduates of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law who have gone above and beyond in service to their communities and the school in ways far exceeding traditional business, professional and civic duties. These alumni’s “hard work, passion and accomplishments define Indiana Law’s ideals for community service and serve as accomplished role models for the school and the greater community.”

Baney earned her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Bloomington and her Juris Doctor from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. As a Herman B Wells Scholar at Indiana University, Baney was involved in numerous societies and organizations, including Phi Beta Kappa. Upon graduating, she was a 2015 Indiana University College Luminary and served on the school’s alumni board, recently completing a term as its president. Baney has also been a mentor to students and a resource to the career services office in Washington, D.C.
