Minnesota Lawyer selected Faegre Drinker Chair Gina Kastel as a 2023 “Top Women in Law” honoree in its inaugural class that celebrates the outstanding achievements of women in the legal community in Minnesota.
According to the publication, the award recognizes “attorneys who have dedicated their careers to nonprofit work, private practice and in-house counsel” and “women [who] have become leaders in their practice areas and are instrumental to their companies’ success.” Honorees were selected based on the core principles of leadership, professionalism, accomplishment, and passion for making a difference and celebrated at a gala event on October 26 at Quincy Hall in Minneapolis.
In a feature profile, Kastel discussed her career, saying, “I see my role now as an opportunity to pay that forward by trying to create an environment where other people can also have great careers…My whole role as a leader is making the firm a place where everybody can shine.” She added, “My job now is all about influencing people and getting them strategically aligned.” Lastly, Kastel discussed artificial intelligence (AI), commenting, “It can give you insight and signals about the health of a business relationship — where we need to be attentive and where we have opportunities.” She concluded, “We’re also using AI to support contract review and case review.
