Faegre Drinker Intellectual Property Practice and Attorneys Ranked in 2024 Edition of WTR 1000

Faegre Drinker’s intellectual property practice and partners have been recognized among top trademark firms and individuals in the latest annual World Trademark Review (WTR) 1000 ‒ the World’s Leading Trademark Professionals, a unique guide that identifies the top trademark professionals and firms in key jurisdictions around the globe. Intellectual Property teams in Colorado, Washington, D.C., Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota are identified as standouts. Faegre Drinker attorneys Emily Bayton, Jared Briant, Robert Cannuscio, Tore Thomas DeBella, Jennifer Dean, Melissa Dillenbeck, David Merritt, Louis Perry, James Saul, James Steffen and Kelly Young all received individual rankings by WTR as well.

The WTR 1000 ranks firms and individuals that are “deemed outstanding at obtaining, protecting, managing, enforcing and monetizing trademarks.” WTR completes qualitative research to identify top firms and individuals, including in-person, telephone and video interviews and written submissions from firms detailing their recent activity in the field.

Colorado

The firm’s practice in Colorado, which received a silver ranking, is described as “knowledgeable, professional, articulate and persuasive.” The ranking highlighted Briant as “a knowledgeable, skilled and persuasive practitioner, who performs brilliantly in negotiations, depositions, and in front of a judge and jury.” The feature also noted how Bayton stands out for her sage strategic advice and keen sense for opportunities to strengthen and monetize trademark portfolios.

District of Columbia

In Washington, D.C., the group received a bronze ranking. The WTR 1000 features client feedback that said, “They take the time to understand their clients’ business, brand and long-term goals, to provide customized trademark strategies that align perfectly with the unique needs of the business. The group consistently provides clear and concise explanations and ensures clients are empowered to make well-informed decisions. Throughout the process, the entire team at Faegre Drinker maintained a level of responsiveness that surpassed expectations.” Clients highlighted Dean for her knowledge of trademark law, DeBella for his collaborative relationship, and Young for the global perspective she brings to trademark law.

Illinois

The firm’s practice in Illinois received a bronze ranking, and the ranking shared client feedback that highly recommended the team. “The trademark division has made our job easier and is working to afford us the protection we need from any challenges in the US or internationally,” the feedback said.  The ranking also praised Saul and Dillenbeck for the quality of their work and their service. Clients noted their appreciation for Saul’s approachability and efficiency and Dillenbeck’s diligence and attention to detail.

Indiana

In Indiana, Faegre Drinker received a gold ranking, noting their reliability and competence. The feature also highlighted Perry, noting how he is known for his “no-nonsense approach” and practical solutions and is a familiar face in federal and state courts.

Minnesota

The WTR 1000 recognizes the firm’s trademark practice in Minnesota with a silver ranking for its impressive range of trademark and copyright services. Intellectual property practice group leader Steffen is mentioned for the twelfth year in a row as a partner that brand managers enjoy working with and examples of his recent client wins are noted. The ranking also highlighted Merritt, noting he received praise from clients for excelling across a varied array of trademark services.
