Andrew Kassner Shares Insights, Successes at First-Ever Managing Partners Conference on Gender Parity

Overview

Drinker Biddle Chairman and CEO Andrew Kassner was a featured speaker at the inaugural Am Law 100 Managing Partners Conference on Gender Parity, held May 21, 2019, at Georgetown Law, in Washington, D.C. Kassner took part in a roundtable discussion and shared strategies and tactics that have positioned Drinker Biddle as a leader in the area of diversity and inclusion.

The conference brought together managing partners and senior leadership from the nation’s largest law firms to discuss the importance of taking active steps toward gender parity in the legal profession. The program also included corporate CEOs and general counsel, who discussed why the issue has become a primary focus for their companies — including Northrup, Citigroup and GE Global — as well as what they have observed about the most effective efforts to address it.

Kassner was invited to speak about Drinker Biddle’s focused efforts on hiring, advancing and promoting women lawyers. Many firms have women’s leadership committees, conference organizers noted, but Drinker Biddle “has been more successful than most in seeing theirs pay off with results.”

Drinker Biddle far outpaces industry benchmarks in terms of gender parity, with women making up 50 percent of both the firm’s elected managing partners and its executive management team. More than a third of the firm’s regional partners in charge are women.

The full-day program, which will be held annually, was hosted by The Bass Institute for Diversity & Inclusion and the Bass Foundation, with co-sponsorship from Citibank and Georgetown Law.
