The PPP Loan Program: The Pitfalls of Taking Government Relief Money

COVID-19 and Fraud: Detection, Enforcement and Relief for Businesses and Consumers

Webinar

Overview

The Paycheck Protection Program, established by the CARES Act and implemented by the Small Business Administration with support from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, was designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on payroll. Many small businesses, however, never received any relief from this program. For those that did, what should they do now as loan recipients? Our presenters will take a deeper dive into this loan program and its provisions and outline ways to stay on the right side of the inevitable fall-out, which can include bad press and investigations.

This program is part of a weekly webinar series dissecting current and potential areas of fraudulent activity within relief programs and pharmacotherapeutic innovation overseen by numerous government agencies in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The series will focus on government enforcement risks under various government programs and SEC enforcement, as well as fraud risks facing health care payers and providers as the targets of scammers.
