Contractors and subcontractors are increasingly finding themselves in difficult situations due to project disruptions and delayed payments by owners or upstream contractors, among other issues impacting their business relationships. As in-house counsel for an international corporation serving as general contractor, subcontractor or supplier on projects of varying size and complexity, Jennifer Leong legal director of Johnson Controls, Inc., will provide her broad perspective on how to deal with these challenges while balancing competing interests. Faegre Drinker construction attorneys John Mitchell, Shawn Doorhy and Liz Charnowski will lead a discussion with Ms. Leong on topics ranging from how to leverage contract rights while preserving ongoing business relationships, maximizing opportunities for winning new work while protecting the bottom line, navigating potential supply interruptions and effectively using outside counsel to protect a company’s rights.
