Faegre Drinker government and regulatory affairs partner Libby Baney presented on Falsified Medicine and Misinformation on the Internet: Public Risk and Solutions — which included contributions from Ronald Guse, Chair of the International Pharmaceutical Federation’s (FIP) Regulators Forum, Mike Isles of Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacy and Justin Macy of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy — during an FIP webinar. The panelists discussed how the worldwide pandemic has caused many consumers to look to the internet for health care information and products at the risk of online drug sellers worldwide operating in violation of laws. The presentation included the following learning objectives:

• To identify the level of illegal online drug sellers and bogus medical clinics on the internet and impact on the unsuspecting public
• To identify the barriers to overcome and better protect the public
• To identify programs and initiatives currently in place to combat misinformation, poor virtual care and falsified medication to enhance the safety and protect the internet consumer
• To encourage and support standards for virtual care
