Defending Food Companies in Foodborne Illness Cases

MnDRIVE 2023 Symposium

Overview

Alyssa Rebensdorf spoke on “Defending Food Companies in Foodborne Illness Cases” at the MnDRIVE mini-symposium, Behind the Scenes of Salmonella Outbreaks Linked to Food Animals: Science and Policy.

Sponsored by the University of Minnesota, the symposium featured speakers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, the Minnesota Department of Health, and the University of Minnesota, speaking on Salmonella strains in poultry and human Salmonella illnesses, and more broadly focusing on how foodborne disease outbreaks get identified. Alyssa spoke on how the firm defends its food processing and manufacturing clients in foodborne illness litigation, and Bill Marler did the same from the plaintiff’s counsel perspective. Both then took part in a point-counterpoint Q&A session.

MnDRIVE — Minnesota’s Discovery, Research, and InnoVation Economy — is a partnership between the University of Minnesota and the State of Minnesota that aligns areas of research strength with the state’s key and emerging industries to address grand challenges.
