Patrick Reilly joined a panel speaking on “Emerging Issues in Platform Liability Litigation” at the Marketplace Risk Management Conference.  Also on the panel were Claire Eagan, senior counsel of product and strategy at Uber; Christina Linsmeier, director of insurance litigation at DoorDash; and Laura McAdams, litigation lead counsel at Cruise.

Platform liability — product liability and personal injury litigation for platform companies — is on the rise. It is taking new forms, under new theories, in new jurisdictions, from single-plaintiff lawsuits to multidistrict litigation. Patrick explained what platform liability is, why marketplaces should be paying attention to this trend, and what steps companies should take to minimize the risk and scope of loss.
