Sustainability at Small and Mid-Cap Companies

Society for Corporate Governance’s 2024 National Conference

Overview

Corporate partner Elizabeth Diffley spoke at the Society for Corporate Governance’s 2024 National Conference on a panel titled, “Sustainability At Small and Mid-Cap Companies.” During the session, panelists discussed the significant increase in smaller and medium-sized companies making public sustainability commitments.  Even as they are generally working with fewer resources, they have the opportunity to avoid some of the pitfalls of those who moved first.

Diffley discussed building consensus on sustainability at the board and management levels; identifying key sustainability issues for the company; integrating sustainability into the company’s business strategy and operations; deciding whether to set goals; organizing for success with limited resources; collecting data and telling your story effectively; maintaining stability through the pendulum swings; and effectively communicating with the board.
