Steffen Advises Would-Be Charities How to Avoid Domain-Name Woes

Following the death of pop singer Amy Winehouse, her father announced the family's intention to create a charity in her name to help others battling addctions. The plans, however, ran into a temporary snag when it was discovered that the likely domain names for the foundation were snatched up by fast-buck-seeking opportunists.

Such problems are commonplace, and not just for superstars, Jim Steffen told Star Tribune. His advice to those planning to launch a charity: "Go up and grab the domain before making any announcements.''
