Pro Bono Africa Advocacy Project Featured in Twin Cities Daily Planet

As part of the Faegre Baker Daniels Pro Bono Africa Advocacy Project, teams of volunteer firm attorneys are traveling at their own expense to several African nations, including Liberia, Morocco, Cameroon and Tanzania, to conduct in-country needs assessments with local human rights organizations. The ultimate goal of the Project is to support local organizations in Africa with pro bono legal assistance to advance human rights and the rule of law, provided by pro bono lawyers working in the United States. The firm is partnering with The Advocates for Human Rights, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights.

An article in the Twin Cities Daily Planet profiled the work of Team Liberia on its recent trip to Liberia. Prior to the trip, Team Liberia members Jim O'Neal, Darrell Daley, Craig Komanecki and Caroline Lee completed extensive background research on the country. The firm's engagement with Liberia dates from its groundbreaking work with the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission in the period  2006-2009. The traveling Team, which included Jim O'Neal and representatives of The Advocates for Human Rights, met with 30 organizations and individuals involved in a wide range of human rights efforts around the country.
