Doug Wright Predicts Healthy 2015 M&A Market in Law Week Colorado

Faegre Baker Daniels partner Doug Wright, who advises clients on mergers, capital markets and securities law, spoke with Law Week Colorado about his predictions for the 2015 mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market.

Wright said that 2014 was a fantastic year for M&A activity, “I think we’ve finally turned the corner from the downturn, and companies across a broad swath of sectors have put their foot on the gas in the last 12 months to engage in a robust amount of M&A activity, which is very encouraging for us in the industry to see that.”

One of the biggest trends in recent years in the realm of corporate taxes is “inversions” a process where a U.S. company merges with a foreign business in a country with a lower corporate tax rate and officially changes corporate headquarters. Several high profile U.S. companies have done this and Wright says “That may or may not continue next year because Congress has gotten wind and is looking at closing the loophole that allows U.S. companies to move offshore with the relative ease they can now.”
