James Volling Reflects on Supreme Court Clerkship Experience in Minnesota Super Lawyers Magazine Profile
Minneapolis business litigation partner James Volling was profiled in the Minnesota Super Lawyers Magazine story “Eating the Chief’s Soup.”
In the profile, Volling reflected on his time serving as a judicial clerk to former chief justice of the United States, Warren E. Burger.
Volling discussed his overall experience working for the Chief Justice and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with Justice Burger.
“You’re part of this significant thing really early in your career, and at least in my case, you come to appreciate it more as you get older,” Volling says. “It’s a truly special experience.”
Volling noted that among the cases he worked on, those that stood out involved frozen Iranian assets; a challenge to the military draft being exclusively male; and CBS, Inc. v. FCC.
