Faegre Drinker and Nicole Wixted’s Involvement with Girard College Featured in Annual Report

Philadelphia partner Nicole Wixted was featured in Girard College’s 2020 Impact Report for her involvement and the firm’s support of the school. In the article “Making New Partners,” Wixted discussed her experiences with Girard College and why she and the firm decided to get involved with the institution. Located in Philadelphia, Girard College is a grade 1-12 boarding school that provides students from families with limited financial resources and headed by a single parent or guardian with a full scholarship to attend.

The article details how Wixted and the firm’s support of Girard College began in October 2019, when Faegre Drinker sponsored the school’s Beyond the Wall 5K. Wixted and a team from the firm helped run the on-campus race to raise funds for student activities. Wixted was also on the planning committee for the school’s 2020 virtual 5K fundraiser. In the winter, lawyers and staff from the firm’s Philadelphia office collected school supplies and donated them to the students in Girard’s elementary school.

“When we see an opportunity to give back, we want to take it,” Wixted said. “The firm is very supportive of our professionals and the causes they are passionate about. For me, meeting the youngest students (1st graders) at Girard really resonated with me as a mom. The school is a great opportunity, of course, but it’s not easy to be away from home at that age. Those children are so brave, and I’m inspired to give as much as I can to provide for their future.”
