DE&I: A Global Perspective
Labor and employment partner Erika Collins and associate Caroline Guensberg coauthored an article for the New York Law Journal that discusses best practices for how multinational companies can implement a diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) program.
The authors highlight how, in recent years, clients and investors alike have become increasingly interested in ensuring that the companies with which they do business and invest in engage in socially responsible business practices.
They also share that it is important for global companies to know there are challenges to implementing DE&I programs, including divergent definitions of diversity and obstacles to collecting information necessary to track diversity and assess the success of DE&I programs. In addition to addressing these challenges, the article also explains that to avoid the pitfalls associated with implementing a DE&I program, multinational companies are advised to adopt a global mission but to implement this mission locally.
