Randy Kahnke Discusses IP and Trade Secret Protection With HR Legal & Compliance Excellence
In “Intellectual Property And HR: Complexities, Challenges And Solutions For A Hybrid Workplace,” HR Legal & Compliance Excellence turned to business litigation partner Randy Kahnke for insight on steps employers can take to protect intellectual property (IP) in a hybrid workspace.
“If all we cared about was protecting confidentiality, there would be no problem: you would just lock your information in a safe and throw away the key,” Kahnke said, “But if we want to actually use confidential information, then we need to take it out of the safe and allow people to access it. That carries risk with it — particularly when your employees are located across the country and around the world.”
Kahnke also addressed trade secret protection challenges, enhancing IP protection awareness, and employee buy-in and use of real-world examples to identify risks and frauds.
