Caryn Glawe and Pablo Svirsky Discuss Pipeline Initiatives to Promote Diversity in Law With Indiana Lawyer

In the Indiana Lawyer article, “Law schools, firms create programs to build pipeline of diverse attorneys,” partners Caryn Glawe and Pablo Svrisky discussed Faegre Drinker’s efforts to promote diversity in the legal profession through different community programs.

Svirsky, chair of the firm’s diversity collective, said that the firm awards one-year diversity and inclusion fellowships to law students, and has worked with more than a dozen national organizations to help address issues important to underrepresented communities, both in the legal profession and in general. Svirsky said that everyone at a law firm needs to be involved in diversity initiatives, from the top-down.

Svirsky noted that getting high school students interested in becoming a lawyer is sometimes just exposing them to attorneys and the legal profession.

Glawe, who serves on Central Indiana’s Center for Leadership Development (CLD) board, has helped establish Faegre Drinker’s scholarship for CLD graduates interested in pursuing a legal career. She said the firm established scholarship in 2019, and many applicants express interest in being a “helper” in their communities by pursuing a career as an attorney.

“They see it as a way they could have an impact on their community,” Glawe said.
