Sarah Bassler Millar Discusses Employer Health Plans With Modern Healthcare
Benefits and executive compensation partner Sarah Bassler Millar spoke with Modern Healthcare on employer health plans and rising prices.
The publication reported that employers overwhelmed by escalating healthcare spending are suing the health insurance companies that manage their benefits in a trend that could disrupt the group health plan market. The average annual price for an employer-sponsored family health plan rose 7% to $23,968 last year.
“Health plans are often, for an employer, one of their most significant expenditures, so there are a lot of dollars at stake. And there's significant fiduciary responsibility related to monitoring those plans and the vendors they engage to help provide those benefits,” said Bassler Millar.
