Overview
Deirdre Coleman is an experienced licensed customs broker who has been in the industry for 25 years. Her extensive experience allows her to better navigate clients’ obstacles and achieve desired outcomes.
International Trade
Deirdre is experienced in Title 19 Code of Federal Regulation and the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S., including knowledge of various types of entries and entry procedures, including quota entries, temporary importations, warehouse entries and withdrawals, and other government agencies. As a technical specialist, she has also prepared post entry adjustments, protests, binding ruling request, prior disclosures, mitigation of fines, penalties and forfeitures, and reconciliations, as well as assist clients with other customs matters and communications. Deirdre has experience in running and analyzing ACE reports and often assists clients with applying for ACE access and training on how to use their ACE portal account.
With the implementation of additional Section 301 and 232 duty increases, Deirdre supports clients with researching possible duty saving opportunities and assists with post-entry work to recover overpaid duty.
Previous Experience
Prior to joining the firm, Deirdre worked in the import industry for major logistic companies assisting importers with moving cargo from overseas and getting this cargo cleared through U.S. Customs. This entailed a high degree of organization, attention to detail and compliance. In her last position prior to joining Faegre Drinker, she worked as an import team leader for a customs broker, where she led a team in delivering compliant import transactions.
Personal Interests
Outside of the office, Deirdre likes to find ways to be at peace and express gratitude for her life and blessings. She enjoys nature, reading and watching television. She has a passion for helping others. Deirdre also enjoys going to the gym when she feels stressed, however, she also enjoys eating good food.
