Ehren Fournier relies on his past life experience to develop creative strategies to help clients solve complex real estate and commercial disputes.

Eminent Domain & Condemnation

Ehren counsels property owners on all aspects of Illinois eminent domain and condemnation matters, including initial case evaluation, negotiating with condemner state and local governments, retaining and using appraisers, and litigating the eminent domain and condemnation matters in Illinois courts. Ehren has also counseled clients on their rights to obtain relocation assistance under various state and federal laws and regulations.

Land Use & Zoning

Ehren provides advice to clients on a variety of zoning matters, including specific zoning and building permit applications, compliance with zoning regulations, and applications for zoning changes and special use permits. He guides clients through the application process, navigates zoning committees and zoning boards of appeals, and responds to public comments and concerns regarding development projects.

Landlord/Tenant & Commercial Disputes

Relying on his background in commercial litigation, Ehren represents both commercial landlords and commercial tenants on all aspects of Illinois eviction matters. He has helped clients resolve leasing disputes ranging from lease renewal arbitrations and repair disputes for Class A commercial properties to prosecuting and defending eviction actions throughout northeast Illinois. In addition, Ehren has experience representing clients in commercial disputes in state and federal courts and arbitration forums, including business sale disputes, real estate purchase and sale disputes, contractual disputes, noncompetition and nonsolicitation disputes, and other general commercial litigation. He has experience litigating temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions, bench trials, motion practice, and complex discovery involving voluminous electronically stored information.

Real Estate Tax

Ehren counsels clients in a variety of real estate tax issues, including appeals of real estate assessments to county boards of review and the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board, overpayment and refund recovery, real estate tax exemption applications, and tax lien and sale disputes.

Past Life Experience

Prior to attending law school in 2010, Ehren was a theatre professional in Chicago who performed on stage and in commercials, choreographed staged violence, and served in a variety of administrative roles in several local theatre companies. Ehren also served as an administrative assistant to professors performing life-saving research at Northwestern University, his undergraduate alma mater.
