Ahmad Malik is an accomplished intellectual property litigator specializing in high-stakes patent litigation. With experience as a federal law clerk for Judge D. Michael Fisher of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and Judges Cathy Bissoon and Patricia L. Dodge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Ahmad brings a unique perspective to advocating for his clients’ interests.
Ahmad has counseled clients across a diverse array of technologies, including therapeutic genes, cellular modems, telecommunications, medical devices, optics/lasers, digital manufacturing and generative artificial intelligence. Litigation Experience
- Represented a global telecommunications company in securing dismissal of a patent infringement lawsuit based on a favorable claim construction ruling.
- Represented one of the world’s largest producers of electronic devices in a licensing dispute arising out of standard essential patents (SEPs) related to 4G and 5G cellular standards.
- Counseled one of the Big Five U.S. tech companies in various lawsuits related to the use of generative artificial intelligence technology.
- Developed litigation strategy and prepared a mediation statement for a biotechnology company in a dispute arising from a research collaboration and license agreement to develop molecules targeting solid tumor cancers.
- Represented a research and development company specializing in cellular technologies for treating muscle-related disorders in a patent infringement lawsuit brought by a university.
- Prepared responses and objections to a nonparty subpoena to produce documents and testify at depositions on behalf of a major medical device company.
- Counseled a German technology company regarding proper service in a lawsuit filed against it in the United States.
- Analyzed a digital manufacturing client’s patent portfolio to identify optimal patents for assertion in an infringement lawsuit, researched potential infringers, and evaluated suitable litigation venues.
- Advised a market-leading manufacturer of optical and photonic products on indemnification strategies regarding patent infringement lawsuits filed against the client’s customers.
- Counseled a major medical device company on actionable claims for the unauthorized use of its proprietary “laser calibration” technology.
- Researched various evidentiary issues related to expert testimony, waiver, and scope of product-by-process claim limitations for appeal to the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of a major medical device company.
- Advised a large social media platform on bellwether selections in multidistrict litigation related to personal injuries arising from social media usage.
- Advised a global leader in residential real estate on proposed amendments to the rules of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), after NAR settled a series of lawsuits over real estate commission fees.
