Overview

Pete Sistare provides patent law counsel focused on mechanical and electrical technologies, with technical insight as a former professional engineer. Pete prosecutes patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and manages international patent portfolios. He also provides infringement and validity opinions, conducts freedom-to-operate investigations, manages dispute resolutions and advises on due diligence matters.

Prior Experience

Before becoming an attorney, Pete served in the U.S. Coast Guard, holding the rank of lieutenant commander. As chief of the machinery branch, he was responsible for ensuring that main propulsion and auxiliary engineering systems designs for U.S. flag cargo, tank and passenger vessels, and offshore drilling and oil production platforms were in compliance with respective standards. He also conducted on-site technical inspections of such commercial vessels in the United States, Europe, Middle East and Africa and performed operational and maintenance engineering of main propulsion and auxiliary systems on Coast Guard vessels.
