Susan Sonenberg has more than 25 years of experience in trust and estate administration, having worked in both the legal and banking industries. She assists attorneys and clients in all aspects of estate and trust administration, including preparing and filing probate papers, estate and inheritance tax returns and inventories of assets; applying for releases of estate tax liens and estate tax waivers; valuing, collecting, and transferring assets; applying for access to safe deposit boxes; preparing renunciation documents and receipt, release, refunding and indemnification agreements; reviewing and preparing accountings; paying estate and trust expenses and bequests, estate and trust bookkeeping; and searching for and collecting unclaimed funds. Her work entails contact with high-net-worth clients, Surrogate’s Court personnel, the Internal Revenue Service and state tax authorities, financial institutions, financial advisers, accountants, state charities bureaus, charitable organizations, appraisers, real estate managing agents, and gallery and auction house personnel.
