Overview
Kacie Phillips Tawfic counsels clients in navigating and resolving disputes at all stages of litigation. She defends clients in complex business and commercial disputes in state and federal courts, including trade secret and noncompete litigation, complex consumer class actions, and appellate matters. Kacie also has experience in finance litigation, including bankruptcy adversary proceedings, and represents financial institutions, creditors and creditor committees in actions involving claims of fraud, fraudulent transfer, alter ego and successor liability.
Kacie is also a former judicial law clerk for Chief Judge Edward J. Cleary of the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
Representative Experience
Trade Secret & Noncompete Litigation
- Represented a multinational adhesive manufacturer in enforcement of its restrictive covenant agreement, obtaining a temporary restraining order enforcing customer-specific noncompetition agreement.
Business & Commercial Litigation
- Represented local restauranteur in real property dispute against neighboring landowner in week-long trial, resulting in favorable multimillion-dollar jury verdict.
- Represented defendant in a collection of class action and individual lawsuits alleging chicken producers conspired to reduce the supply of chicken in an effort to drive up prices.
Finance Litigation
- Represented committee of unsecured creditors in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding and successfully obtained derivative standing to pursue fraud claims targeting an estimated $95 million in assets transferred into two trusts.
Personal Interests
Outside the office, Kacie enjoys spending time with her family, reading and exploring local coffee shops.
