Overview

James Wagner helps clients with complex commercial dispute resolution and international commercial arbitration.

He acts for clients across industries, including investment managers, industrial manufacturers, medical device manufacturers and technology companies.

International Commercial Arbitration

James focuses on international commercial arbitration and has particular experience with arbitrations arising under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA).

He has represented clients in arbitrations involving parties or subject matters across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America.

In addition, James regularly acts as co-counsel on arbitration matters, providing strategic advice and advising on the role of the English court in international arbitration proceedings.

Commercial Disputes

James has represented clients in a wide range of commercial litigation, including breach of contract and other tort actions, distributor and partnership disputes, and civil fraud claims.

He has extensive experience of group action litigation in the United Kingdom. James has acted for defendants in product liability claims before the English court, and co-ordinated the defence of those claims in other European jurisdictions. He has also acted for investor claimants bringing claims in England and the United States of America.

James regularly advises clients on contentious insolvency matters, particularly debt claims and winding-up proceedings.

He also has particular experience of breach of confidence and restrictive covenant claims, across commercial and contentious employment matters.

Investigations and Regulatory

In regulatory matters, James has represented businesses facing enquiries and investigations from the Health and Safety Executive, the Environment Agency and the Trading Standards Department.

He has also advised clients on some of the most high-profile statutory public inquiries in the UK.
