Overview

Alex Yim is a finance and restructuring partner whose practice focuses on debt financings, restructurings and other transactional matters. He regularly represents U.S. and international financial institutions, corporate borrowers, private equity funds, asset managers, and other capital providers in connection with complex corporate and financing transactions. He has successfully closed in excess of several billion dollars in senior secured, first-lien, second-lien and mezzanine facilities. Alex also has extensive experience representing South Korean clients, particularly with transactions in the United States.

Representative Experience

Sponsor / Leveraged Acquisition Finance

  • Representation of a joint lead arranger and administrative agent in connection with first-lien and second-lien credit facilities for a sponsor’s acquisition of a telecommunications company.
  • Representation of a joint lead arranger and administrative agent in connection with senior secured credit facilities to a U.S. optical retailer in connection with a dividend recap.
  • Representation of a co-lead arranger and administrative agent in connection with senior secured credit facilities to a services provider to the pharmaceutical and medical device industries to fund the refinancing of existing debt and an add-on acquisition.
  • Representation of a payroll, HR and benefits outsourcing services company in connection with the private placement of senior secured notes to finance an acquisition.
  • Representation of a fitness company in connection with senior secured credit facilities to fund the refinancing of existing debt and an add-on acquisition.
  • Representation of a consortium of financial institutions, as mandated lead arrangers, in connection with a senior secured facility to finance a sponsor’s acquisition of a South Korea-based retailer of electronic goods.
  • Representation of a mezzanine lender in connection with a senior subordinated loan to fund a portion of a sponsor’s acquisition of a manufacturing company.

Asset-Based Lending (ABL) Finance

  • Representation of U.S. and multinational corporate borrowers in various industries, including health care, clothing, office products, freight transportation, manufacturing, shipping, and wine and spirits, in connection with ABL lines of credit and permanent financings secured against accounts receivable, inventory, equipment, maritime vessels and other assets.

Project / Construction Finance

  • Representation of financial institutions in a public-private partnership (P3) project to design, build, finance, operate and maintain (DBFOM) a new city hall, a public library, parking facilities, a park and headquarters for the Port of Long Beach. This $550 million project was awarded Gold for Best Social Infrastructure Project and the Projects Grand Prix at the 2016 P3 Awards.
  • Representation of a bioenergy company in connection with senior secured credit facilities to fund the development of an anaerobic digestion facility.

Real Estate Finance

  • Representation of financial institutions in connection with their provision of mortgage loans in excess of several hundreds of millions of dollars secured against commercial real estate, distribution center / warehouse and multifamily properties located across the United States.

Restructuring

  • Representation of asset management companies and various credit providers in connection with distressed loan portfolios in mortgage and mezzanine loans secured against commercial real estate, hospitality, multifamily properties and equity interests.

Personal Interests

Alex is an avid runner who enjoys running in Central Park. He is training to run his first marathon.
