Ardent Mills, a Denver-based flour milling and ingredient company, acquired Mondelez Canada’s flour mill in Mississauga, Ontario. Our firm represented Ardent Mills in the acquisition.
The mill has been in operation since the 1830s and is the largest soft-wheat flour mill in Canada and the second-largest in North America. The deal, which includes a related supply agreement for the mill to supply Mondelez Canada, gives Ardent Mills—Canada’s third-largest flour milling company, with operations in Saskatoon, Montreal, Burlington and Brampton—a strategic perch in Ontario.
The acquisition by Ardent Mills is the company’s first since the business was established in May 2014 as a joint venture encompassing the flour-milling assets of Cargill, ConAgra Foods, Inc. and CHS, Inc.
