Hormel Foods Corporation purchased Chicago-based Fontanini Italian Meats from Capitol Wholesale Meats, Inc. for $425 million. Our firm advised Hormel and provided benefits subject matter support on the cash transaction.
Fontanini specializes in sausages, pizza toppings and meatballs and sells its products primarily to restaurants.
The deal follows Hormel's recent acquisitions of Skippy peanut butter, Muscle Milk, and Justin's nut butters and candies. This acquisition will allow Hormel to accelerate its growth in the food service space.
