Hormel Foods Wins Summary Judgment in False Advertising Case

Hormel Foods Corporation (Hormel Foods) won a decisive victory in a false advertising lawsuit brought by the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF). ALDF claimed that the advertising for Hormel Foods' ​Natural Choice® ​line of deli meats and snacks was misleading because the advertisements said that the products were natural and contained no preservatives. The D.C. Superior Court granted summary judgment to Hormel Foods because ALDF lacked standing and its claims were preempted by federal law.​ Our firm represented Hormel Foods in the case.
